I'm brand-new to Dreamwidth, and to using an account for more than relatively private blog posts, so this is different for me. But I couldn't resist the "geekgirls" link, now could I? Even less could I resist the tagline.

I'm afraid I'm not very technically-minded; my geek tendencies lie elsewhere, mostly in my reading and viewing material. Also, I love learning and it rarely matters what I'm learning about. It's just something that I reach for so naturally that I don't notice anymore.

Books are a major love of mine. I'm not kidding when I tell people that the biggest room in my dream house is a library. I love stories of all types, but fantasy ones are my favourites. I'm also a re-reader: if it's a favourite, I've probably read it at least six times.

I started watching StarTrek: The Next Generation with my mom when I was maybe eight. More recently, I dragged her into watching the new Doctor Who and I'm biting my nails to see what happens in Dollhouse (less worthy of the title of "geeky", maybe, but still pretty dang cool). Planning on getting into Firefly soon.

I read fanfiction voraciously. I try not to add new fandoms, because I waste too much time on them as it is, but every now and then I can't help it. I've also written fanfic, mostly for Harry Potter and a little for Doctor Who. I'll fall all over myself to squee about discuss my fandoms.

On the more personal side, music is everywhere in my life, I'm a slightly obssessive swing dancer, I'm an American college student, and I do have a concentration in Creative Writing. It's a lot harder than I thought it would be, but writing fic has actually helped a lot.

Your geek tendencies lie very close to mine. Am terrible with doing anything but actually using a computer, mostly geek out over books and tv. (Word on re-reading. I get such weird looks when I tell people that!) It's cool to see non-tech geeks represented too!

(And I think Dollhouse has plenty of geeky cool stuff. Any show that can make such broad and delicate statements about the uses and dangers of power and still have Eliza Dushku kicking ass will always have my attention.)
